Welcome to Counselling & Psychotherapy in Sheffield - Jill Wales (Anxiety/Depression).


I have worked as a therapist for almost 20 years now and I am experienced in supporting clients who are struggling with anxiety, trauma, panic, shame, depression, grief, anger, relationships, abuse and addiction.


I appreciate that reaching out and being seen is not always easy, so I treat this process with care and sensitivity. 


About Me

I work independently in my private therapy practice and I can genuinely say that I am honoured to do the work that I do.  I value creating a relationship that you can feel comfortable in, so that you can feel contained and go at a pace that feels safe for you. 


I have completed an advanced course in Embodied Relational Therapy and I am a qualified Body Psychotherapist.

 I have also recently completed an advanced course in Body, Breath and Energy, where we can bring our awareness to the subtler ways in which our body communicates to us, that brings us to a deeper 'knowing' and understanding of ourselves.

I am accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP Accred) and work within their professional and ethical standards.

How Therapy Works

Therapy gives you a safe, accepting, understanding space; where you can be heard without being shamed, judged, or rejected.  In this space we can safely explore how we have disconnected with who we really are. 


In therapy we explore together how aspects of our different characters have emerged from our unique relationships; such as denying, blaming, overthinking, criticising, pleasing, avoiding, numbing or shaming and how these defences have protected you and shaped your sense of Self. 


Through this awareness we can begin to uncover our true Self that has been hidden underneath these defences and also recognise the hidden qualities of these parts.  We can then connect with who we really are and express from this place of Self.


To do this we learn how to bring our attention quietly inwards; to our body, breath and energy.  

From here we can practice reconnecting to our true Self in an embodied way, so that we can regulate our nervous system and soften our defences, returning home to who we truly are.
